Slavery in Libya was abolished in 1857; before, eg, the United States of America, or the Dutch colonial empire abolished it. However, NATO’s 2011 ‘humanitarian’ war on Libya brought it back.

    • There is slavery in various other countries, like the USA, too

Slave labour in fruit picking in Florida, USA

though less openly than now in Libya.

In Mauritania, it was never abolished. In Libya, it was abolished in 1857. But it came back after the 2011 NATO ‘humanitarian’ war; in which NATO’s allies spread the rumour that any black-skinned person, Libyan or immigrant, was supposedly a ‘mercenary of Gaddafi’; making it supposedly OK to kill, torture etc. them.

      • Yep, I think I brought up Mauritania, because they didn’t “abolish” it until 2015, so its the only country with state sanctioned slavery..crazy. However, you’re right it is everywhere especially in the US in the nail salons. I remember an experience when I was going to leave a salon because I didn’t feel like waiting and the woman grabbed my wrist to stop me after the owner yelled something (maybe to stop me). However, she grabbed it really hard and looked scared.
