Shadow Chancellor Labour’s John McDonnell asks the government about the Paradise Papers in the House of Commons.
From the PVDA.be site in Belgium (translated):
Guy Verhofstadt, ex-prime minister of Belgium, current fraction leader of the [pro-Big Business] liberals in the European Parliament and until 2016 a director of a corporation with ties in tax havens.
Guy Verhofstadt mentioned in Paradise Papers dossier
November 21, 2017
The president of the Liberal ALDE Group in the European Parliament, Guy Verhofstadt, was a director of a corporation that appears in the Paradise Papers. The [leftist] PVDA [political party] publicized that today. “In the European Parliament, Guy Verhofstadt plays at being holier than thou to everyone. But as a director of the Exmar holding company he received 60,000 euros per year. Why did he never object to the shadowy offshore constructions of daughter Exmar Offshore Ltd. on Bermuda? We ask the European Parliament to start an investigation into the involvement of politicians in the Paradise Papers”, says Peter Mertens, chairman of the PVDA.
