This video from California in the USA is called Garden Beer Trap for Snails.
Now, it is still legal for gardeners in the Netherlands to use beer to stop snail or slug damage instead of pesticides (snails can also be removed from gardens without killing them, see here).
Using methylated spirit or soap against aphids is also still legal. So is pipe sulfur against mildew.
But today, Dutch daily Friesch Dagblad reports that the Dutch government will ban these uses. They do that at the request of the European Union which wants conformity all over Europe.
This ban is a danger to the environment and biodiversity. It helps no one but the Big Pesticides Industry.
In “Huge Win for Pollinators, People and the Planet,” EU Bans Bee-Killing Pesticides. Saturday, April 28, 2018. By Jessica Corbett, Common Dreams in the USA.
