This 3 April 2017 video is about a demonstration today against the animal abusing Belgian slaughterhouse in Tielt.
Translated from Dutch NOS TV today:
At the controversial slaughterhouse in Tielt, West Flanders province, hundreds of people have demonstrated. They want the pork slaughterhouse to be permanently closed or at least guarantees that no more abuses will take place.
This happened after publication of a video showing that the pigs in the slaughterhouse are mistreated by staff. The Flemish government after that immediately closed down the plant and all other slaughterhouses will be investigated. The owner is still appealing the closure at the State Council.
That court case will continue on 20 April.
The demonstrators are from various animal rights organizations such as Animal Rights, Animal Liberation Front and Gaia. With banners and leaflets they demand that slaughter in this way should stop.
Also local residents joined the protest. They want the animals to be treated better, but they also complain about the inconvenience [by the slaughterhouse] to the neighborhood. They had pamphlets with them which said “Je suis Tielt”.
At the gate of the slaughterhouse white roses were laid to commemorate all animals.
