This morning we got a great look at the plumage variation exhibited in the male Pine Grosbeak. Here, two males with obvious differences in coloration stop by for visit the platform feeder on the Ontario FeederWatch Cam. Across their native range, most males display a bright carmine red on their head and body, but colors can range from deep brick red to yellow or orange red in some areas!
Thanks to Perky-Pet for helping to make the Ontario FeederWatch Cam possible!
The FeederWatch cam is located in a residential neighborhood in Manitouwadge, Ontario.

Oh, I’d love to do this in my backyard… I believe I’ll investigate what is required. I have a video cam recorder; lots of native birds, and a willingness to engage in some delight! 🙂
