Racist Trump US president, who’s to blame?

Corporate Media Will Blame Bernie Sanders For Trump | Election Day Coverage 2016

8 November 2016

The establishment will learn all the wrong lessons from a Trump win. As Upton Sinclair said, “It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” Don’t listen to them when they try to blame Bernie Sanders. Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz, Ana Kasparian, John Iadarola, and Jimmy Dore, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down.

“Some may write in Sanders’ name or choose other candidates, though polls show most will vote for Clinton, even if their heart isn’t in it. An overwhelming majority — 82% — of Sanders Democrats who are likely voters said they will support Clinton, but only 32% said they are “very enthusiastic” about it, according to a recent Washington Post-ABC News poll.

“I can’t say that I’m excited,” said Brittany S. Hale, 28, a corporate attorney and education board candidate from Rahway, N.J. She connected most with Sanders and his ideas for dealing with student debt and taking on special interests in Washington. Clinton, by contrast, is the “old guard” and too “centrist,” she said.

Of her decision to vote for Clinton Tuesday, she said, “I’m essentially doing my part to ensure that a Democrat becomes president.”

Kristin Kania, 34, a fifth-grade teacher from Chippewa Falls, Wis., said Sanders seemed more “reliable and trustworthy” than Clinton or Trump. She’s voting for Clinton, but “not very happily.””

Racist, sexist Donald Trump has been elected president of the USA. Against the expectations of nearly all pundits and media. On 20 January 2017, Trump’s inauguration is expected.

In his victory speech today, Trump thanked especially the generals and admirals supporting him. Which may sound ominous for world peace.

Some expect that actually, President Trump may be less eager to start war against nuclear armed Russia than a President Hillary Clinton might have been. And less eager than Clinton to invade Syria in a regime change war, which might mean war on nuclear armed Russia as well.

However, in his campaign Trump ‘promised’ sharper confrontation with Iran and nuclear armed China. Which means more danger of war.

Trump also thanked the Secret Service especially. Support for the ‘security’ establishment may sound ominous for democratic rights of most people.

Who is to blame for this result? With probably ominous consequences for the 99% non-elite people; for the environment and for so much more?

The international trade union movement before this election:

placed a sizable share of the blame for the far right [politicians like Trump]’s rise on mainstream center-left parties’ drift to the center (think Bill Clinton’s New Democrats and Tony Blair’s New Labour).

Bernie Sanders might have been the Democratic party candidate, if the party establishment would not have used dirty tricks against him. Polls said that Sanders would have been a better anti-Trump candidate than Clinton, beating the egomaniac billionaire.

Probably, First Lady Michelle Obama and Senator Elizabeth Warren would have beaten Trump as well, doing better than Clinton.

When Clinton became the Democratic candidate, she had to choose a running mate. Sanders might have been the candidate for vice president. Elizabeth Warren or someone else to Clinton’s left might have been. Instead, she chose Tim Kaine. Of the same right wing of the party as Clinton. Even to her right on, eg, women’s reproductive rights.

This drove people who want progressive change away from Clinton, helping Donald Trump.

It also did not help Clinton that she often attacked Trump from the right. With recycled old Cold War conspiracy theories about WikiLeaks publications of her secret Wall Street speeches; in which she said, eg, that publicly she opposed trade deals like TTIP, but privately supported them. Conspiracy theories saying Trump=WikiLeaks=Russia=Satan. They did not exactly increase her credibility.

CNN analyst Van Jones gave a moving explanation of the pain and fear that many Americans feel as Donald Trump appeared to be on the verge of being elected the nation’s next president. Jones called a Trump victory a “nightmare” and said it would be difficult for many parents to explain to their kids how a man who regularly insults and belittles others was the president-elect: here.

Former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard David Duke celebrated Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s election night strength in a tweet early Wednesday: here.
