Northern mockingbirds in Florida, USA

A pair of Northern Mockingbirds picking off ants on the fence for breakfast with a special guest appearance at the end of the video. This video is unusual on two counts – one the Mockingbirds are totally quiet because they are hunting, and two, they were relaxed enough to let me film them nearby. These birds are relatively low profile at ground level in the Florida Backyard as the Blue Jays run the show, but they dominate the high tree tops and fence-lines around the periphery. These birds often come to the bird bath for hygiene and water, but they never-ever visit the seed feeders, preferring instead to live off insects and fruit.
