It is now official. Donald Trump is now the Republican nominee for president. Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz (What The Flick?), Ana Kasparian, and John Iadarola (ThinkTank), hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

Donald Trump officially became the Republican Party’s presidential nominee on Tuesday after a roll call vote overshadowed by dissent and apathy atypical of what is traditionally a celebration of the party’s White House candidate.

Trump easily earned the 1,237 delegates needed to capture the nomination. But sporadic boos could be heard as some states attempted to award delegates to Trump’s Republican primary competitors.

Trump‘s home delegation of New York put him over the top, announced on the convention floor with Trump‘s children standing nearby.”

Donald Trump seems to have a problem with female voters. Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz (What The Flick?), Ana Kasparian, and John Iadarola (ThinkTank), hosts of The Young Turks, break it down.

“Well, Donnie, the women don’t appear to love you anymore. U.S. Uncut reports that only 17 women showed up at a “Women for Trump” event at the RNC today. Yes, 17. As in SEVENTEEN. And a few were probably daughters or grandmothers that were dragged.

Turnout for Women For Trump event. The people in this picture are journalists and one media intern. #RNCinCLE

There were so few people in the audience that the panel had to ask each other questions. Awkward.

In stark contrast, over 100 women protested naked at the RNC, Huffington Post reports.

Seems the only women Trump is winning with are his daughter, his 3rd wife and maybe those 17 who showed up to pretend to support him. Newsflash – that won’t win him the election.”

Since launching his campaign last June, Trump has accused Mexican immigrants of being rapists, called for a blanket ban on Muslims entering the U.S., advocated the use of torture, encouraged supporters to physically attack protesters, praised murderous dictators, threatened U.S. allies and publicly repeated scores of falsehoods, exaggerations and outright lies: here.

IT’S OFFICIAL: TRUMP’S THE PARTY NOMINEE Even though 721 delegates cast their vote for a candidate other than Donald Trump, which is the “most significant expression of party dissent since 1976, when Republicans had a contested convention.” Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan spoke — but not really about Trump. Donald Trump Jr. used lines from a conservative column (he had reportedly been given permission) in his speech the day after Melania Trump came under fire for plagiarism. And here’s what to watch for today. [Christina Wilkie and S.V. Date, HuffPost]

Here’s what George W. Bush’s chief speechwriter said about Melania Trump’s plagiarism.
