According to the Honduran national police, there has been a spike in the country’s murder rate. Over 400 people were killed only in May, up from 300 a month at the beginning of the year. This accelerated increase seems to contradict the government’s rhetoric that the country’s sky-rocketing violence is under control. Our correspondent Gerardo Torres has more from Tegucigalpa.

The Honduras National Energy Company has announced that beginning this month electric bills are going to increase at least 30 percent. The company says the measure will help reduce their deficit, but the move is going to really impact Honduras’ poor, who in some cases are going to have a hard time paying. Our correspondent Gerardo Torres has more from Tegucigalpa.
