Rally attacks Airbus link to Science Museum

Monday 16th May 2016

PEACE campaigners staged a demo outside the London Science Museum on Saturday against its decision to accept funds from arms firm Airbus.

Activists from Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) gathered to protest against the sponsorship of Leonardo da Vinci exhibition ‘The Mechanics of Genius’ by a firm which sells weapons to human rights-abusing regimes.

Airbus makes fighter jets used by Saudi Arabia and UAE in their coalition war against Yemen, which has involved “widespread and systematic” attacks on civilian targets according to the UN.

CAAT London member Philip McMahon said: “Arms companies like Airbus use public institutions such as the Science Museum to gain legitimacy and distract from their otherwise abhorrent business practices.

“We want the Science Museum to end its relationship with Airbus and create an ethical sponsorship policy.”
