Translated from Dutch NOS TV today:
Bert Meerstadt will with immediate effect resign from the Supervisory Board of gin company Lucas Bols. This was announced by the company. Yesterday Meerstadt already resigned from the Supervisory Board of ABN AMRO bank, following the publication of the Panama Papers.
The name of Meerstadt appeared in the Panama Papers, as a shareholder of a company in the Virgin Islands. He said he did not want speculations on that, and denied in an earlier response to the FD and Trouw dailies that he was the Bert Meerstadt named in the Panama Papers.
NOS TV also reports today that the PvdA party, the junior partners in the Dutch coalition government, want to annul the Dutch-Panamanian treaty on taxes, because of the Panama Papers scandal. However, Dutch Finance Minister Dijsselbloem, a PvdA member of the party’s Blairite right wing, does not want that.
