Now we hear from the Hillary Clinton camp that Bernie Sanders needs to tone it down. They say you’re allowed to keep running, but stop criticizing. But back in 2008 [when Ms Clinton was running against Mr Obama for the Democratic party presidential candidacy] her supporters said the opposite. They called themselves “PUMA’s”. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
“Diehard Hillary Clinton supporters who still refuse to accept that the nomination race is over have given themselves a name, Pumas, and a logo that the in-house lawyers at the Puma sportswear brand might like to take a look at. In the network of blogs where the name originated, it stood for “Party Unity, My Ass!” – a defiant shout of opposition to the notion that they should fall silent in order to speed the healing of Democratic wounds.
Now that the Pumas have formed their own fundraising committee, however, they seem to have had a change of heart. According to their site, Pumapac.org, Puma stands for “People United Means Action“, an exactly opposite sentiment, prompting the thought that if they don’t iron out such inconsistencies in their message very soon indeed, there’s a serious chance that Clinton might not be the next president.”

Bill Clinton Vs. Black Lives Matter

During a recent speech, Bill Clinton was interrupted by Black Lives Matter. Instead of giving them the floor to voice their concerns like Bernie Sanders did, he attempted to educate them on the merits of the crime bill he passed in the 90’s. You know, the bill that caused millions more African Americans to be imprisoned with much longer sentences… The one Hillary Clinton championed and marketed with the term “super-predators.” Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down. …
“Former President Bill Clinton sounded like a cranky Fox news viewer on the campaign trail today while stumping for Hillary Clinton in Philadelphia today.
His speech was repeatedly interrupted by Black Lives Matter protesters, specifically with regard to his crime bill and the consequences of it today.
When pushed on it, Clinton lashed back …
He went on to highlight other provisions of the crime bill — the assault weapons ban, money for after-school programs for inner-city children and funding for additional police officers that Clinton said reduced the need for police to bring in “militarized” equipment — as well as Clinton’s work with disadvantaged children and on cataloging discrimination in an Alabama school.
So far, so good, but then it went off the rails, when the protesters accused him of crimes against humanity, sparking an angry response.
“I don’t know how you would characterize the gang leaders who got 13-year-old kids hopped up on crack and sent them out on the street to murder other African-American children,” Clinton growled. “Maybe you thought they were good citizens… You are defending the people who kill the people whose lives you say matter!””

It may have something to do with the fact that the paper’s owner would stand to lose about a $100 billion a year in taxes if Bernie’s tax plan got through. Controversy! Bernie Sanders has said something that has been deemed unacceptable by the establishment media. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down.
“Sanders… she has been saying lately that she thinks that I am ‘not qualified’ to be president.
Well, let me, let me just say in response to Secretary Clinton: I don’t believe that she is qualified, if she is, through her SUPER PAC, taking tens of millions of dollars in special interest funds. I don’t think that you are qualified if you get $15 million from Wall Street through your super PAC.”
I don’t think you are qualified if you have voted for the disastrous war in Iraq. I don’t think you are qualified if you have supported virtually every disastrous trade agreement which has cost us millions of decent paying jobs. I don’t think you are qualified if you’ve supported the Panama free trade agreement, something I very strongly opposed and, which as all of you know, has allowed corporations and wealthy all over the world people to avoid paying their taxes to their countries.”

Earlier this week, Hillary Clinton was asked at the rope line of one of her campaign events whether or not she would stop accepting contributions from fracking interests.
She laughed. Out loud. But it’s not funny. The health and safety of your community is not a punchline.
Fracking threatens our air and water. It causes earthquakes. It does not belong in anyone’s backyard or deserve exemption from laws that protect the health of children. Hillary Clinton supports fracking and sold it to the world as Secretary of State. She left the campaign trail days before Iowa to take fracking money. Not because they hoped to change her mind, but because she already stands with them.
Bernie doesn’t take money from those who profit from the destruction of the environment. This campaign is funded by people like you, and as we enter the most important three week stretch of this campaign, we have to ask:
Contribute $3 to our campaign today. If everyone who has signed up to support this campaign renewed their commitment with a contribution, we will have the resources we need to win this primary. It’s asking a lot, but those are the stakes.
What we are proving on this campaign is that you can get elected without hustling millionaires and billionaires for money. This campaign is funded by individual contributions coming in response to emails like this one. As you go, we go. And that’s why your contribution is so important.

Clinton was very clear on the fracking issue. In her news conference with Cuomo she said she supported his ban on fracking. She also pointed out that her plan has multiple restrictions on fracking, including oversight of any process and holding the industry responsible. It is unfair to say she “supports” fracking. Both candidates oppose fracking. But the Sanders campaign manager is right. Clinton HAS changed her position on this issue. This was covered by most news services last month.

You write: ‘Both candidates oppose fracking.’ But, at the same time: ‘her [Clinton’s] plan has multiple restrictions on fracking, including oversight of any process and holding the industry responsible.’ That is only *partial* opposition; while Sanders’ opposition is 100%.
You also point out ‘Clinton HAS changed her position on this issue.’ Indeed. When she was Secretary of State, she advocated fracking to foreign countries.
I tend to be wary of politicians who change their views as election time gets closer. They might change these views again after they have been elected.

That is correct. On this issue, and a few others, I think the Sanders campaign is forcing Clinton to rethink her stances. Pushing her to the left. Personally I don’t think fracking is safe. At the same time there might be areas (away from people and away from water sources) where it might be ok.
On a side note. I believe it was Cheney who was able to get the fracking (natural gas) industry exempted from supervision from the Clean Water Act regulaltions. The gift that keeps on giving.
