  1. One of the odd things I did while we lived in Kenya was to scan through the annual colonial agriculture officer reports. One thing this revealed to me is that for over 100 years western ‘experts’ have messed about with indigenous cultivation practices, digging them in with associated notions that the tradition = uncivilized. A toxic legacy. The west has been impoverishing Africa – one way or another – for four hundred years.
