2016, year of the northern lapwing

This video is about a northern lapwing with a chick.

The Dutch SOVON ornithologists have proclaimed 2016 to be the year of the northern lapwing.

Lapwings are common nesting birds in the Netherlands. However, they are declining.

In this year, extra attention will be paid to them to help conservation.
