POLL: Bernie Sanders Would DESTROY Trump In General Election

A new poll out from Quinnipiac. Here comes Bernie! It turns out he has more supporters than Donald Trump. He also would beat The Donald by a larger margin than Hillary Clinton would if the general election were held today. Cenk Uygur, host of the The Young Turks, breaks it down.
“Bernie Sanders would beat Donald Trump 51-38 in a general-election match-up, according to the latest poll from Quinnipiac University. Or — to put it in the course vernacular that Trump introduced to America this week — the billionaire would get “schlonged” by the democratic socialist.
“Sen. Bernie Sanders hammers him,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac poll. Hillary Clinton, the poll suggests, would also put Trump in his place — “Hillary Clinton tops him,” added Malloy — though by a more modest 47-40.
That wasn’t the only bad news for Trump, and by extension the GOP, to come out of the national poll: 61 percent of Americans say the Republican frontrunner “does not share their values,” 58 percent believe he “is not honest and trustworthy,”and 57 percent say he “does not care about their needs and problems.””*

Poll Shows Sanders Would Trounce Trump in General Election
Latest Quinnipiac survey shows voters favor Sanders over Trump by 13 percentage points – nearly double the lead Hillary Clinton would enjoy in defeating the billionaire Republican
If the 2016 U.S. presidential election were held today, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) would win by a landslide over GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, according to a new poll released Tuesday by Quinnipiac University.
With voters favoring Sanders over Trump 51 to 38 percent, Sanders would win the general election by 13 points—more than any other candidate would get squaring off with the Republican favorite, including Sanders’ chief rival for the Democratic nomination, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Indeed, while Clinton would likewise sail to victory over Trump, her lead would be approximately half as much, with voters favoring her 47 to 40 percent.
Columnist Brent Budowsky writes for The Hill:
If this margin held in a general election, Democrats would almost certainly regain control of the United States Senate and very possibly the House of Representatives.
It is high time and long overdue for television networks such as CNN to end their obsession with Trump and report the all-important fact that in most polls, both Hillary Clinton and Sanders would defeat Trump by landslide margins.
[….] It is noteworthy that in this Quinnipiac poll, Sanders runs so much stronger than Clinton against Trump.
Meanwhile, Budowsky writes, “analysts would be talking about a national political realignment and new progressive era in American history if an enlightened candidate such as Sanders would defeat a retrograde race-baiting candidate such as Trump by a potentially epic and historic margin.”
Yet, what do the corporate media in the USA do?
“A recent study showed on ABC evening news, Trump over a period of time got 81 minutes of time. Bernie Sanders got 20 seconds. Now you tell me why.”

Earlier today, Hillary Clinton’s campaign unleashed a series of vicious and coordinated attacks against Bernie’s universal health care plan. They falsely claimed Bernie’s plan would end the Children’s Health Insurance Program, dismantle Medicare and strip millions of people of their coverage.
Here is the truth: Bernie’s plan would guarantee health care as a right for every man, woman, and child, and it would be implemented in every state in the country regardless of who is governor.
We have made tremendous gains in Iowa, but if we lost because Hillary Clinton’s campaign scared voters into thinking Bernie’s plan would cost them their coverage, it could set our vision for universal health care back at least a generation.
We simply cannot let that happen.

I want to close with something important. This campaign isn’t about Bernie Sanders and it isn’t about Hillary Clinton. It’s about the very real issues facing working families across this country. It is a national disgrace that the United States is the only major country in the world that does not offer health care as a right.
We need a president who will fight for the 29 million Americans without health care. That’s what this campaign, and your contribution, is about.

Here is what I believe: the greed of the pharmaceutical and health care industries in this country is killing Americans. It is a national disgrace that, despite great gains made under the Affordable Care Act, 29 million of our neighbors are still without care.
That is why I am, frankly, a bit surprised that with less than three weeks to go before the Iowa caucuses, the Clinton campaign is attacking our belief that health care must be recognized as a right, not a privilege, for every man, woman and child in our country. We cannot wait to realize that goal, and the best way to get there is a Medicare-for-all, single-payer system.
Yesterday, one of Hillary Clinton’s several super PACs took aim at us, saying our plan would “require tax increases on working families.”
It would be a terrible setback for our shared values and for our movement to reform a corrupt political system if we lost because a super PAC scared voters into thinking our plan would take away people’s coverage or cost them more money. Help make sure that doesn’t happen.
Please make a $3 contribution to put an end to these attacks and help us win in Iowa.
Under my plan, we will lower the cost of health care for the typical family by nearly $5,000 a year. It is unfair to say simply how much more a program will cost without letting people know we are doing away with the cost of private insurance and that the middle class will be paying substantially less for health care under a single-payer system than Hillary Clinton’s program.
Attacking the cost of the plan without acknowledging the bottom-line savings is the way Republicans have attacked this idea for decades.
Taking that approach in a Democratic primary undermines the hard work of so many who have fought to guarantee health care as a right in this country, and it hurts our prospects for achieving that goal in the near future.
