From daily The Morning Star in Britain:
Trident protests escalate
Thursday 8th October 2015
ANTI-NUCLEAR campaigners carried a model of a Trident submarine outside the Conservative Party conference yesterday in a fresh protest against renewing the missile system.
The demonstration in Manchester came as Prime Minister David Cameron asserted that the government will be ordering four new Trident submarines in his keynote speech.
CND’s Dave Webb said: “Huge sums of taxpayers’ money are being poured into the nuclear weapons system, before Parliament has even debated whether to replace Trident.
“While the chief executives of companies are getting richer through this massive input of public money, there are people in this city depending on foodbanks to survive.”
CND general secretary Kate Hudson branded Mr Cameron’s comments “arrogant,” and said he amounted to “bypassing the democratic process” and showed “contempt for Parliament,” which is not voting on the issue until next year.
DESPERATE Tories launched a vicious attack on Labour and the tens of thousands who have protested in Manchester this week — highlighting the government’s fear of growing mass opposition: here.
