This 9 December 2014 video is called CIA Torture Report: What Should We Think? Russell Brand The Trews (E207).
Marine Le Pen, leader of the French neo-fascist party the National Front, has praised the United States CIA for torturing prisoners (about which yesterday a redacted US Senate report was published).
Translated from NOS TV in the Netherlands today:
In an interview with a French TV station the extreme right-wing Le Pen said that torture may be useful, for example in cases of terrorism.
Translated from Le Pen‘s TV interview, reported in French daily Le Parisien today:
[Question]: Can torture be used? [Marine Le Pen]: “Yes, yes, of course, it has been used in history.”
What history did Marine Le Pen mean? If one knows about her father’s history, one can see why Ms Le Pen likes torture. She wants to bring back the death penalty (abolished in France) by guillotine beheading as well. In the 1950s, her father Jean-Marie Le Pen, founder and honorary president of, and member of the European parliament for, the National Front, as an army officer then, used to torture Algerians fighting for independence against French colonialism. In the Algerian war, torture was official French colonial policy.
Marine Le Pen’s interview was on BFMTV and RMC TV.
This is a French video about Jean-Marie Le Pen‘s torture in Algeria.
TORTURE REPORT REVEALS SCOPE OF CIA’S SECRET INTERROGATION PROGRAMS The Senate Intelligence Committee’s report, which you can read in its entirety, rejects the narrative that Osama Bin Laden was found through the use of torture. Ultimately, more than a quarter of the world’s countries helped the CIA run their torture program.
