Bird report from Rottumerplaat desert island

This video is about shelducks on Texel island in the Netherlands.

Jasper Zoeter and Tim van Nus, wardens this summer at Rottumerplaat desert island in the Netherlands, report about birds.

This year, three barn swallow couples nested on the island; more than ever. They use gull’s feathers for nest building.

In 66 Rottumerplaat rabbit warrens this year, shelducks nested. Jackdaws nested in three warrens; herring gulls in 13 ones.

Four marsh harrier couples nested on the island this year.

There were 48 spoonbill nests; a relatively good year.
