Whaling ‘is set for ban’

Australia’s attorney-general said today he expects the International Court of Justice to outlaw whaling in the Antarctic before the next hunting season begins in January.
The United Nations court will hear the case in The Hague on Wednesday.
“We’re hopeful of a decision before the end of the year,” said Attorney General Mark Dreyfus.
Australia declared a whale sanctuary in the Antarctic Ocean in 1999. Commercial whaling has been banned worldwide since 1986.
