    • That is not true. Tazein has given me many more awards than I gave her, which is really kind of her. I try to nominate different bloggers each time for awards, but in special cases, like Tazein, I (not that often) make exceptions.

      • I still wait for the Polar Bear, Seal and Whales piccies! And I must correct you. You have written that you have had no visits from Svalbard. Yes, that’s correct because Svalbard is not autonom from Norway.

        Like

        • I did not see polar bears on Svalbard; only as a picture on a traffic warning sign 🙂

Svalbard does have some autonomy from Norway (not part of the Schengen agreement like continental Norway; cheaper alcohol, rights of Svalbard treaty signatory countries to mine coal, etc.)

On WordPress stats maps, countries where there have been visits from are orange. Countries with no visits are white. Norway is orange on my maps; Svalbard is white; like Greenland used to be. But Greenland is orange by now 🙂

          • The blogosphere is crap! Svalbards flag is Norways flag but Greenlan’s flag is not Denmarks , but its own. Try to get things straight!!!!!

  1. I looked at WordPress map and I have had visitors from Greenland and contrary to your lies Greenland is pale orange and Denmark is almost red.

    Like

    • Yes, I did not differentiate between pale orange (few visits) and dark orange (many visits). Only between orange and white (no visits). However, it stretches the definition of “lying” to call that a lie a bit 🙂

      • That’s right but Svalbard belongs to the Royal Kingdom of Norway and you and WordPress has missed that like your deficit knowledge about Greenland’s flag and autonomi.

        • France has five “overseas departments”, like French Guiana, etc:

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overseas_department

“They have the same political status as metropolitan departments [of France].” So, even less autonomy than Svalbard.

When there is a visit from French Guiana, Mayotte, Guadeloupe, Martinique or Réunion to a WordPress blog, then that visit is counted separately from visits to France. Like visits from the British Indian Ocean Territory (not really autonomous) are counted separately.

French Guiana, Mayotte, Guadeloupe, etc. get orange on the WordPress map when there is a visit from there. Like Svalbard will get (light) orange when there will be a visit.

            • The official flag of French Guiana, Mayotte, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Réunion is the French tricolour flag. Yet, these five countries show separately in WordPress statistics.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own flags and their own parliaments. Yet , visits from these countries are shown as “United Kingdom”.

                • Yes, a link to an, unofficial, flag of Svalbard is at

The official flag of Svalbard is, of course, as both you and I already know, the flag of Norway.

Like in French Guiana, Mayotte, Guadeloupe, etc. as I already explained, the official flag is the French flag. Still, these countries are listed separately from France on WordPress maps. While Scotland, or Wales, which do have their own official flags, are not listed separately on WordPress maps.

Conclusion: official national flags are not an absolute criterium for WordPress maps.

                • That Wikipedia flag has to be very unofficial. I have live here (In Svalbard) for 3 years now, and this is the first time I see it.
