  1. Very interesting. Looks like Arabic writing. Both the Arabs and Chinese were great sailors venturing around the world. But 1,000 years ago I don’t think they were at the height of their expeditions. This is very interesting!

  2. Let’s face it, we’re hard to miss down here when you think about it. People have probably been bumping into western Australia long before the Dutch, found it hot and barren and disregarded it as inhospitable. it’s easy to stick to the worldview of Cook, though he already had charts showing parts of eastern Australia. Who knows?
