    • Indeed, Rebecca. In Western media, usually you only hear about the North Korean nuclear problem; but there is Japan, South Korea, etc. as well.

  1. You can read John Hersey’s excellent account “Hiroshima” for the staggering assault of an atomic bomb. Things things are vile – sadly there are around 17,300 nuclear warheads on the planet. Disturbing figures.

    And whilst this is going on a new sarcophagus is being built to try and contain the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant after the 1986 disaster. It’s costing a few billion to make.
