A few years ago I was in Mali and travelled to Timbuktu and then out into the desert to the great Malian/Tuareg music festival that is held about 70km north of Timbuktu. Such beautiful music, such beautiful scenery and such beautiful people. What has happened to the north of Mali in the last 3 years is a tragedy beyond words, but they have found a way of expressing it through music.
