Pope Says Gay Marriage Threat to Human Existence
7 January 2013
The Pope indicates that gay marriage is a threat to the future of humanity, rather than wars, climate change, or anything else.

The Pope decided to use his annual Christmas speech as a platform for his over-the-top, anti-gay agenda. Tis the season!
Translated from Dutch LGBTQ organization COC:
December 22, 2012
COC in the Netherlands thinks that the recent statements by the Pope on homosexuality are ‘baffling and unloving’. The COC recommends that Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Timmermans should summon the papal nuncio in the Netherlands and that the Vatican should lose its special status with the United Nations.
“Instead of a message of peace and love, the Pope chooses Christmas time for a frontal attack on gay men and women”, says COC President Tanja Ineke. “I find that amazing and unloving. It is hurtful to LGBTQ people in general, wounds Catholic LGBTQ people in their very souls, and alienates many heterosexual Catholics from their church.”
Ineke calls the “obsession” of the Vatican with homosexuality ‘remarkable’. “While wars rage and people are dying of hunger, the Vatican chooses to condemn people who love each other. About Uganda, where the most horrible religion-based anti-gay legislation is likely to be introduced, the Vatican is silent.”
Translated from the Dutch Geen bloemen naar de Paus Facebook groep:
Ever since 1985 Dutch growers donate every year at Easter flowers to the Pope. But why should someone who routinely condemns homosexuality and LGBTQ people be given flowers?
POPE: ‘GOD IS NOT AFRAID OF NEW THINGS’ “Pope Francis has closed an assembly of Catholic bishops that revealed deep divisions on how to respond to homosexuality and divorce, saying on Sunday the Church should not be afraid of change and new challenges.” [Reuters]
Talking about homophobia: homophobia in Kosovo.

I don’t know about his personal feelings.
There are, however, reports of cover-ups of sexual abuse by priests of children; in these cover-ups, the reports say, Ratzinger participated, both before and after becoming pope.

Tragic, especially at a time when we need to seek “peace on earth.”

Yes, the speech would have been bad at any time.
But especially attacking people who love each other at Christmas made it even worse.

Well said! The optics are devastating and divisive, but the saddest aspect is that he timed the message to make the greatest impact. More people will listen to him at Christmas than any other time of the year. Even so, I am more than confident that the message of this season is too powerful to be discounted by one angry voice. Merry Christmas, my dear friend…

A pope’s Christmas speech is roughly comparable to a United States President’s State of the Union speech.
Merry Christmas, dear Rebecca, and all readers of this blog!
