Ms' Kooiman's embroidery

This are 21 plants from the Wadden Sea region, embroidered by Ms N. Kooiman-De Graaf, from Texel Island, the Netherlands.

Recently, Ms Kooiman died, 93 years old.

Now, her embroidery is at Ecomare museum on Texel.

  1. What a marvellous legacy to leave after her long life. So much detail and, I assume, botanically faithful. The butterfly is ecologically relevant, I’m sure, and it’s also a touch of humour.

    • Yes, I think it is botanically faithful; as its model was a protected plants poster; and else, the museum would not want it. They will exhibit it next summer, when the depicted plants will flower.
