Dutch eighteenth-century bird books on the Internet

This is a video of photos of birds in the Netherlands, taken by photographer Ruud Bos.

From 1770 to 1829, the volumes of Nederlandsche vogelen were published in the Netherlands.

In this series, 250 bird species from the Netherlands were described and depicted.

The first volume was written by the preacher Cornelius Nozeman. Later volumes were by Martinus Houttuyn, a doctor; and by Coenraad Jacob Temminck, the first director of the Dutch national natural history museum.

Now, the first three volumes are on the Internet. The other volumes are expected to follow soon.
