Dutch Rottum islands birds

This video is called Knots – Calidris canutus.

According to the blog of the warden of the Dutch island Rottum, the desert islands Rottum and Rottumerplaat are important for migratory birds.

In August and September, both islands together have over 2,400 sanderlings; over 1% of the West European birds of this species.

For red knots, 9% of all West European birds are on Rottumerplaat then; nearly 40.000.

And for grey plovers, over 5% are on Rottum; nearly 13,000.
