  1. More journalists arrested

    Two journalists were arrested today in connection with corrupt payments to public officials.

    Scotland Yard said its officers detained a 37-year-old man in Kent and 24-year-old man in south-east London at approximately 6am this morning.

    They are being questioned at separate police stations on suspicion of conspiracy to corrupt and of conspiracy to cause misconduct in a public office, the Metropolitan Police said.

    The latest arrests yesterday mean that 41 people have been arrested by detectives in Operation Elveden, the investigation into suspected corrupt payments to public officials.



  2. Rebekah Brooks in court for hacking case

    LEGAL: Former News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks appeared in court today to face charges linked to alleged phone hacking.

    Ms Brooks was at Westminster magistrates’ court accused over an alleged conspiracy to illegally access voicemails.

    She appeared in the dock to face one general charge, which prosecutors claim could affect more than 600 victims, and two other specific charges linked to murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler and former union leader Andrew Gilchrist.
