Lower French retirement age

France is bracing for its sixth day of national strikes as president Nicholas Sarkozy vows to press ahead with plans to raise the retirement age.

Today: France‘s new Socialist government took on Europe’s bosses and bankers on Wednesday to lower the retirement age from 62 to 60 years old for certain workers: here.

This is the opposite of Thatcherite politicians, raising retirement ages everywhere to 67 years old or higher.
