MPs bid to halt Bahrain GP

A cross party campaign calling for a halt to this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix because of Government crackdowns has been launched in Parliament.
Labour MP for Islington North Jeremy Corbyn has won support for an early day motion from Tory MP for Worthing West Peter Bottomley and Liberal Democrat MP for Colchester Bob Russell. The motion comes as the 12 Formula One teams arrive in the Gulf state to prepare for the weekend’s event.

Banker admits F1 claims ‘true’
GERMANY: A banker charged with illegally taking payments from Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone admitted today that the accusations are “essentially true.”
Gerhard Gribkowsky made the comments in Munich state court where he is on trial for bribery.
He is accused of illegally taking $44 million (£28m) in payments from the Formula One head in connection with the sale of bank BayernLB’s stake in the auto racing championship and faces a possible 10 years in prison if convicted.
