Baby jacanas and black-headed heron

12 February 2012 in the Gambia.

After the morning, the early afternoon near a beautiful pond.

An African jacana couple walking on the water-lily leaves with their chicks.

Cattle egrets. A squacco heron.

A black-headed heron catches a sizable frog.

Jacana and heron photos are here.

A bateleur eagle flying not far from the road.

We are not far from the Senegal border. Across that border, we can hear gunfire. In a blog post on Gambian and Senegalese history and politics, we will explain more about that.
