The Dutch Stichting Bargerveen reports that an insect species, new for the Netherlands, has been discovered.
In a bucket in Appingedam town in Groningen province, the midge species Metriocnemus carmencitabertarum was found in the summer of 2011.
The species is known from Spain, and had not been spotted in the Netherlands before.
