This video from Norway says about itself:
All Utoya Victims (REST IN PEACE!)
29 August 2011
Rest in Peace. We will remember your good thoughts forever. Pray for these people and for their family and friends.
To all families that lost a family member: My heart goes out to you. You’re not alone.
What happened on Utøya?
On 22 July 2011, a mass shooting took place at the AUF’s summer camp, where 650 young people were staying. Anders Behring Breivik arrived on Utøya dressed as a police officer and told those on the island that he was there for security reasons following the explosions in Oslo [also by Breivik] which took place a few hours before. He then began shooting at individuals, continuing until the police arrived one hour after the first alarm call. The suspect immediately surrendered. Combined, the attacks in Oslo and Utøya left 77 dead, with 69 killed on the island, 33 of which were under the
age of 18
Rest in Peace.
When, earlier this year, Norwegian xenophobic terrorist Anders Behring Breivik committed his mass murders of mainly teenagers in Oslo and on Utoya island, the initial media reaction (from Rightists like the Murdoch empire, but also from some people with a center Left reputation) was largely to blame Muslims for these atrocities.
31 years ago, a German neo-nazi killed 13 people in Munich. For 31 years, the culprit was depicted as an “apolitical” “loner”. Only now, authorities are beginning to admit that was wrong and are starting to investigate the far Right plot behind the Munich terrorist bombing.
And now, in Germany, at last details are emerging about serial murders of Greek and Turkish immigrants by a nazi gang. The first murder in that series happened 11 years ago. All of that time, authorities and media suggested the culprits were Turks, maybe others, but certainly not German racists. German racists, it seems, of which at least one gang member made money as a secret police spy.
We see here the bitter, bloody consequences of the rise in “acceptability” of xenophobia in many Western countries. Of which “milder” forms than the German terrorist murders are Thilo Sarrazin’s hate speech about Turks, Jews, etc; Angela Merkel’s claim that multiculturalism is supposedly a failure; and Sarkozy’s attacks on Roma, Muslim women, etc.
