Dutch rare fungus discovery


Rhodonia placenta

The Dutch mycological society reports that in October this year a rare fungus was found in the Veluwe region. It was Rhodonia placenta; growing on a Douglas spruce.

This fungus species had never been seen in the Netherlands during the twentieth century, and just twice earlier in the twenty first century.
