LAUWERSMEER – Aerial photographs show that there is an eaglet at the sea eagle couple’s nest in the Lauwersmeer.
Rangers saw last week from the behaviour of the adult couple that probably an egg had hatched. To be sure they had to take to the air to see the nest from above and to take pictures. Forester Jan Willems is sure now: there is an eagle chick.
According to the rangers, the eaglet is about 17 days old and weighs about 2 kilogram. Adult sea eagles weigh 7-8 kilogram.
