Ecuadorean volcano erupts

Two years ago in southern Chile, a volcano was erupting. About 4,000 people living around the Chaiten were evacuated.

3,500 moved after volcano eruption

CHILE: Over 3,500 people were forced to evacuate in the Caulle Cordon region on Saturday after a volcano erupted.

Officials said the eruption was so violent that a rift more than six miles long and three miles wide had been torn in the earth’s crust.

Smoke and ash were carried as far afield as Bariloche in Argentina.

No-one was reported injured.
