France: The French work minister defended himself on Sunday over whether his links to France’s richest woman – embroiled in a tax scandal – amounted to a conflict of interest.

The wife of Eric Woerth held a high-ranking post for the last three years at a firm that helped manage the fortune of L’Oreal heiress Liliane Bettencourt.

Mr Woerth has been accused of possible conflict of interest after reported leaks suggested that Ms Bettencourt dodged taxes by funnelling 80 million euros into Swiss bank accounts.
