  1. Mining company’s contract cancelled

    VENEZUELA: The government has terminated a contract with mining transnational Crystallex to develop a major gold mine in the southern state of Bolivar.

    Toronto-based Crystallex said on its website at the weekend that it received a letter from the state company Corporacion Venezolana de Guayana saying its operating contract for the Las Cristinas mine has been “unilaterally terminated.”
