UTRECHT -”The number of reports is too many to count. I have been working on it all of the morning.” The legal aid service which offers help to people who have been abused within the Catholic church is getting more and more reports of abuse since last weekend. A spokeswoman of the service said so on Tuesday.
The spokeswoman could not say how many reports have been received by now in total.
”There are dozens of them. The figure is at least a lot more than the sixteen that we have already received this weekend.”
The reports are about various Catholic institutions in the country. It is still unclear which institutions exactly. The Salesian order within the Roman Catholic Church said on Friday that it would launch an investigation into possible abuse of children by priests in a Roman Catholic boarding school in ‘s-Heerenberg in the sixties and seventies.
