New flowerpecker found in Borneo

[Thursday 14 January 2010]

A new species of flowerpecker has been discovered and as yet it has no scientific name as so little is known about it and its relationship to other flowerpeckers.

Tentatively named the ‘Spectacled Flowerpecker’, the bird was found by a biologist from the University of Leeds and two leaders from the tour company Field Guides. The story of their amazing discovery is published today in the latest issue of BirdingASIA, the Bulletin of the Oriental Bird Club.
