From KTVL.com and wire reports in the USA:
BREAKING: Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin Will Resign July 26
July 3, 2009 – 12:39 PM
WASILLA, Alaska — Sarah Palin will resign as governor of Alaska in a few weeks, KTUU-TV reported Friday.
Palin, who was the Republican vice presidential candidate in 2008, made the announcement from her home in Wasilla Friday morning, the station reported.
Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will take over at the end of the month. Parnell and most of her cabinet were present when she made the announcement. Palin’s resignation is effective July 26, according to the Associated Press.
Palin did not say why she is stepping down. She has been considered a potential candidate for president in 2012.
To Alaskans: congratulations, good riddance to bad rubbish.
I hope that she will not be elected into any office again. Certainly not the office of president of the USA, which would give her a chance to start the nuclear war with Russia which she talked about during the 2008 campaign.
From Huffington Post in the USA:
Alaska’s Republican Sen[ator]. Lisa Murkowski issued a surprisingly harsh statement late on Friday, ripping Gov. Sarah Palin’s decision to leave office at the end of the month. “I am deeply disappointed that the Governor has decided to abandon the State and her constituents before her term has concluded,” Murkowski wrote.
