According to Natuurmonumenten in the Netherlands, a butterfly species, new for Zwanenwater nature reserve in Noord-Holland province, has been discovered.
It is the green hairstreak. Until recently, this species used to live mainly in the eastern provinces, and only on Texel island in Noord-Holland.
This new species makes a total of 29 butterfly species for Zwanenwater. There are over a thousand butterfly plus moth species there.
