European Union failure on animal welfare

This video says about itself:

Together with IFAW, Eurogroup for Animals, International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and Humane Society International (HSI), GAIA organized an international demonstration against the seal hunt on 1 July 2008. The date was symbolic, since it marked the opening of the hunt in Namibia and the start of the French presidency of the EU. 1200 demonstrators from all over Europe, including Germany, Finland, France, Britain, Italy, Sweden, Croatia, Hungary, Slovakia, The Netherlands and Belgium protested in front of the European Commission. The demonstration was a powerful call to the European Commission to follow the example of Belgium (the first EU country to impose a ban, since 2007) and The Netherlands in banning the trade in seal-derived products. An EU-wide ban would without doubt signal the beginning of the end of this cruel hunt. More info: www.gaia.be

ANIMAL welfare campaigners accused the European Commission on Sunday of producing a “scientifically flawed” and biased report on the need for tougher laws to safeguard live animals used in research: here.
