Sarah Palin’s racist supporters

This video from the USA says about itself:

Palin supporter displays racist Obama Monkey and flaunts it outside of Palin rally in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. October 11, 2008.

From WGY in the USA:

Palin Supporter Brings Monkey Doll

A Sarah Palin supporter brings a plausibly racist monkey doll wearing an Obama sticker to a campaign rally.

Monday, October 13, 2008

As the crowd cheered at a Sarah Palin rally this morning in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, a man in the audience grinned as he held up a stuffed monkey doll with a Barack Obama bumper sticker wrapped across its forehead.

Is the ‘Obama Monkey’ racist? is a question asked in a poll on the WGY site. Some people have voted ‘No’; probably people who think that the Ku Klux Klan and Adolf Hitler are not racist either.

The McCain-Palin presidential election campaign has already included smearing Obama by guilt by association as a “terrorist”, and supporters, not corrected by Ms Palin, calling for killing Obama.

Now let’s talk about smears against Obama. McCain’s ads have been 100% negative, 100% of the time. But a lot of the smears against Obama started long before either McCain or Obama became the candidates. The person behind much of the Obama smear campaign is a man named Andy Martin. He has been working for years to besmirch Obama’s reputation. He also has a long history of anti-Semitism. The New York Times is publishing an article Monday to reveal the truth about Andy Martin:

Here is discussion of the article on the Daily Kos:

Andy Martin was recently a guest on Sean Hannity’s program on Fox “News.” In a later program, in response to Hannity’s false claims about Obama’s association with Ayers, Robert Gibbs of the Obama Campaign challenged Hannity on why€ ¦ he would allow an anti-Semite on his show. The video of that exchange has made the rounds on the Internet:

    € ¦
Here are Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow commenting on the exchange (complete with a poem about Hannity by John Cleese):

    € ¦
I have thought long and hard about whether to link to a clip of Andy Martin on Hannity. I do not want to aid and abet the Fox propaganda machine. But I decided to link for two reasons. One, we need to know what we are up against. Two, Hannity claims in his exchange with Gibbs that he was merely interviewing Andy Martin, as he has interviewed many other people in the past, so he cannot be held accountable for Martin’s views. But if you watch the clip (which I would not recommend that you do on a fully stomach), you will see that Hannity is not interviewing Martin. Hannity is giving Martin a forum to spew his lies. Hannity is basing an entire documentary-style program on the lies of this anti-Semite, Obama-hater.

Are you disgusted by the above clip from the Emperor Worship Channel? On a scale of one to ten, how disgusted are you? Turn your disgust into victory! Take the number you came up with and multiply it by 5. Then donate that sum to the Obama campaign:
    € ¦
    1 – $5; 2 – $10, 3 – $15, 4 – $20, 5 – $25, 6 – $30, 7 – $35, 8 – $40, 9 – $45, 10 – $50
    € ¦
    You can donate here:

    Yes, we can!

If you come across smears against Obama, don’t forget the campaign has put together a website for fighting the smears:

You can also check on http://www.snopes.com. They debunk a lot of the nonsense that’s out there about Obama.
    € ¦
Luckily, people have grown a brain this election season. The attacks are not working. Or you might say that they are working against McCain. A new ABC poll shows the blowback factor:

CNN, a faithful servant of its Master, the GOP, gleefully reports that, speaking of his upcoming meeting with Obama in the last debate, McCain said that he will “whip his you-know-what.”

    € ¦
Now McCain saying that he will whip Obama’s behind might just be nothing more than a blustering phrase. But McCain said this in Virginia, where not so long ago, historically speaking, the whipping of black people was very much a reality.€ ¦
    € ¦
Just as a historical reference, here is the whipping scene from the TV series Roots:

(Note: You need to be logged in to YouTube as an over-18 user to watch this clip, because of the graphic violence.)
    € ¦
At best, McCain unintentionally walked into a verbal landmine. Alternatively, his words were a malicious dog whistle.
    € ¦
    € ¦
Hatred is alive and well in North Carolina. Take a look at this no parking sign for Obama supporters:
    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/12/43343/168/397/628127

Or read the story about the man who threatens to shoot anyone in his house who votes for Obama:

Remember the exchange where a McCain supporter says that Obama is an Arab, and McCain responds in the negative, saying that Obama is “a decent family man citizen.”

    € ¦
Pollster Zogby, who himself is an Arab American, is mad, and he is not afraid to say so (even though his heart is with the GOP):
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/james-zogby/john-mccain-i-am-an-arab_b_133884.html
    (Not a video.)
    € ¦
Zogby is upset that the word Arab is being used as something fundamentally negative. And he is right to be upset. The word “Arab” stands for an ethnic group.
    € ¦
    What if we said:
    € ¦
“He is not English. He is a decent family man citizen.”
    € ¦
    Or
    € ¦
“He is not Swedish. He is a decent family man citizen.”
    € ¦
    Or
    € ¦
“He is not Native American. He is a decent family man citizen.”
    € ¦
    Or
    € ¦
“He is not Latvian. He is a decent family man citizen.”
    € ¦
All of these statements would be deplorable. So why is it not deplorable to say that someone is not an Arab – “he is a decent family man citizen”?
    € ¦
(Note: For the linguistically challenged, Arab also does not equal “Muslim.” There are Arabs who are not Muslims (as for example, Catholic Arabs), and there are many Muslims who are not Arabs (as for example Indonesian Muslims). Nor should “Muslim” be a four-letter word. There are good Muslims and bad Muslims, just as there are good Christians and bad Christians.)

Remember Mr. Monkey Man, who took a stuffed monkey dressed up with an Obama sticker to a Palin rally? Here he is:

Then later he tries to hide it:

My wife told me that this weekend an otherwise rarely played song kept coming up on the rock stations – Everybody Has Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey… So let’s give it up for the Beatles:

The American Psychological Association has approved banning psychologists from military interrogations. But the decision didn’t come without a major internal battle in the APA. Listen or watch at Democracy Now:

As mentioned before, she was also arrested at the Republican National Convention, while walking to her car peacefully, and wearing a press badge:

What have the Clintons been up to lately? The corporate media might not be covering them that much, but they have been working hard on the campaign trail to help elect Obama. Here is Hillary rocking the house in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on Sunday:

    € ¦
If you have any lingering feelings of ill will toward Hillary left over form the primaries, let go of them now. (Leave grudges to David Letterman… He’s the expert!) Hillary is giving her all to get Obama elected. And she rocks!
    € ¦
    € ¦
A new poll shows Obama ahead in North Dakota. It’s an outlier, and may not be borne out by other polls. But if I were McCain, I would not be sleeping very well just now… If North Dakota goes blue this year, we are looking at such a landslide that Obama will be declared president before polls close on the West Coast (in which case, West Coast dwellers, still get your butts to the polling stations, because there are some important downticket races to win!)

Okay, some people have way too much time on their hands. Here is Palin on Katie Couric, blended with excerpts from the movie Fargo:

Even WND disputes Corsi’s phony Obama birth certificate claim

Even WND disputes Corsi’s phony Obama birth certificate claim

Summary: WorldNetDaily.com, for which Jerome Corsi, author of the debunked and discredited book /The Obama Nation,/ works as a staff reporter, has now taken on the claim that its own writer has been promoting, and determined for itself to be false — that the campaign of Sen. Barack Obama “has a false, fake birth certificate posted on their website.” WorldNetDaily reported that a “WND investigation into Obama’s birth certificate utilizing forgery experts … found the document to be authentic.”

WorldNetDaily.com, the right-wing website for which Jerome Corsi works as a staff reporter, decided to look into a claim made by Corsi and made repeatedly in right-wing blogs
and on talk radio — that the campaign of Sen. Barack Obama “has a false, fake birth certificate posted on their website” — and reported that it was false. In an August 23 article, WND reported that “FactChecker.org [sic] says it obtained Obama’s actual birth
certificate and that the document was indeed real,” and added, “A
separate WND investigation into Obama’s birth certificate utilizing
forgery experts also found the document to be authentic.” Corsi is the author of the debunked and discredited book /The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality /(Threshold Editions, August 2008)/./

WND stated that the August 21 Factcheck.org report “discredited some of the claims of Internet bloggers, such as that the certificate as viewed in a scanned copy released by Obama’s campaign lacked a raised seal,” and that the WND investigation “revealed methods used by some of the bloggers to determine the document was fake involved forgeries, in that a few bloggers added text and images to the certificate scan that weren’t originally there.” But WND did not mention that Corsi repeated the charge that Obama’s birth certificate was fake on the August 15 edition of Fox News’ /Fox & Friends. /Factcheck.org, however, did note in its report that the “charge leaped from the blogosphere to the mainstream media earlier this week when Jerome Corsi … repeated the claim in an Aug. 15 interview with Steve Doocy on Fox News.”

WND’s August 23 article also did not note that the website previously reported allegations that the birth certificate posted to Obama’s campaign site was a “fake document.” In an August 8 article , WorldNetDaily reported, “Israel Insider is reporting that analysts working separately have determined the birth certificate posted on the Daily Kos website and later on Sen. Barack Obama’s
‘Fight the Smears’ campaign website is fraudulent, and now two different actions have been launched to try and obtain the truth about the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee’s birth.”

    >From the August 23 WorldNetDaily.com article:

However, FactChecker.org [sic] says it obtained Obama’s actual birth certificate and that the document was indeed real. The site discredited some of the claims of Internet bloggers, such as that the certificate as viewed in a scanned copy released by Obama’s campaign lacked a raised seal. FactChecker.org also established that many of the alleged flaws in the document noted by bloggers were caused by the scanning of the document.

A separate WND investigation into Obama’s birth certificate utilizing forgery experts also found the document to be authentic. The investigation also revealed methods used by some of the bloggers to determine the document was fake involved forgeries, in that a few bloggers added text and images to the certificate scan that weren’t originally there.
