    Good piece…thanks a lot for all the info. One question that I had was this: What is the role of aggression in societies (I work on conflicts in wasp societies) where dominance/aggression does not decide who becomes the queen, or future reproductive or say leader of the pack? Have people considered any alternative role of aggression?


  2. Hi A, for the views of the PLoS ONe authors, you should see their article (linked here). Personally I’d say that there are so many different animal species that general rules on roles of aggression or absence of it are hard to discover. Also in human history and prehistory, there can be very big differences, depending on time, place, and other circumstances.
