Forewarned is forearmed.
Palin has been trained by the best of the best for the debate Thursday night. Yes, she is shallow, ignorant, and, let’s face it, pretty dumb. But the people preparing her know what they are doing. Add to that her absolute lack of concern for the truth, her reliance on her sex-appeal, and the McCain camp’s incessant efforts to work the refs by claiming that anyone who criticizes Palin is a sexist – and you get a situation in which Palin might well emerge as the winner Thursday night. Do not misunderestimate her!

Sarah Palin vs. Joe Biden: Comedy! Drama! Horror!
So to watch the debate at the State Theater with Michael Moore and 500 other people, 400 of them who will be voting Obama – Biden, was a lot like watching your College football team beat up on the opposition at your school’s Homecoming game. The crowd roared virtually every time Palin rambled, forgetting for the moment that no one without understanding of complex policy issues should become the leader of the free world – the most powerful decision maker on earth.

Deep Debate Analysis – and a little bit of fun

Tonight’s big topic is, of course, the Vice Presidential debate.
Joe Biden was in a very difficult situation going in. Palin had just had a string of interview gaffe’s which greatly lowered expectations for her. Palin was also being trained by the best of the best in the GOP public relations team, who have prepared many Republican candidates for debates throughout the years. At the same time, the McCain camp was aggressively trying to play the refs, suggesting that any criticism of Palin is simply sexism.
If Biden were to come on hard, he might seem like he is beating up on a helpless lady. Not a good image. If Biden were to hold back, he might cede the debate to Palin.
But Biden had a masterful strategy. He basically ignored Palin and instead focused on demolishing John McCain. He showed that McCain has supported and intends to continue the failed policies of George W. Bush.
In the meantime, Palin tried to strike a folksy tone, with lots of “ya betcha” kind of statements, even winking at the camera. But she had no spontaneous, original comments. She merely spouted talking points, repeating them over and over, regardless of what the moderator happened to be asking at the time. At one point, Palin even declared that she wasn’t interested in answering the question.
In the end, Palin had no Couric interview style trainwreck during the debate. But she lost, and lost badly, in comparison to Biden’s true depth and experience.
But what makes this debate a genuine disaster for the McCain camp is that Palin was supposed to shake up the dynamics of the campaign tonight. She was supposed to arrest their free fall in the polls, and turn the momentum back in their direction. In this, Palin did not deliver. She failed – and McCain’s hopes continue to fade…
Oh, and did you catch how Palin wants more power for the Vice President? After the Cheney years, that’s a truly scary thought…
One more thing. Education. Here is a quote from Palin:
“You mentioned education and I’m glad you did. I know education you are passionate about with your wife being a teacher for 30 years, and God bless her. Her reward is in heaven, right?”
Of all the nonsense Palin pulled during the debate, the above quote infuriates me more than anything. Her attitude in those three sentences shows us exactly what is wrong with the Republican approach to our school system. “Her reward is in heaven, right?” That’s the problem. Now, as a Christian, I do believe in heavenly reward. But we cannot base our educational system on such deferred compensation. We need to pay our teachers now – and we need to pay them salaries that can support families. Enough of paying billions for bombs and tanks. Let’s pour our money into our schools!!!
Ok. Now let’s have some fun. Remember how Sarah Palin said that we must not blink?

Oh, BTW, did you know that Sarah Palin is very tolerant of and supports civil rights for gays (short of changing the civil definition of marriage as between a man and a woman)? This segment is, errr, sure to play well with the fundamentalist base which loves Sarah so much:
But Wolfbane Sarah was not the only one who made it on to YouTube today. Let’s not forget about the angry guy who said he has always aspired to be dictator. When John McCain was asked why he voted for the bailout bill, he said that he did so because it is bringing us to the brink of economic disaster. Don’t believe me? Watch the video. Talk about a learning curve, five weeks in and all hopes rest on Sarah at the VP debate, no thanks to Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson. Sarah knocks it out of the ballpark; again. However, there’s an observation I’d like to make about Democratic politicians. A major faux pas they commit with increased regularity. I call it the Bozo Factor. Now if you don’t like Bozo the clown, if you feel that he’s a particularly bad clown and bad for the country, why then don a Bozo wig, a pair of size 14 shoes, and a rubber nose whenever denouncing Bozo?
If there’s an official uniform of the president, it’s the pastel blue tie, white shirt, and dark suit first popularized by George W. Bush. The color scheme comes directly from the presidential flag. No other American president made those colors his distinctive style before George W. Bush. In 2004, Bill Clinton even had his presidential portrait painted wearing George W’s signature garb. Although the 1960 Kennedy vs. Nixon debate was televised in black & white, people still ponder the significance that dark blue and light grey played during the election.
But there remains no ambiguity about which candidate wore what color (Kennedy, blue). Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. And, the fashion police have long memories. Ms. Palin dressed for and aced the debate. Note: before castigating Bozo, please try not to emulate Bozo. It makes one look like a Bozo. We must learn from Joe Biden and never allow our inner Bozos to dictate our mode of dress: http://theseedsof9-11.com

Hi Peggy, I would say the presidential elections are about much more important issues than candidates’ clothes; like McCain talking about 100 years of US soldiers in Iraq and singing Bomb bomb Iran; Palin talking about war with Russia, etc.
