POETRY: Poem of the week
edited by JOHN RETYPOEM OF THE WEEK: A Waste of Time by Jacques Prevert.
In front of the factory gate
the worker suddenly stops
the fine weather has tugged him by the sleeve
and as he turns around
and looks at the sun
all round and red up high
smiling down from its blazing sky
he winks
familiarly
Say comrade Sun
don’t you think
that’s a dead loss
to give a day like this
to a boss?About the poet
