Gianfranco Fini, the most dangerous and powerful fascist in Europe was the security minister at the Genoa G8. His party, Allianze Nationale have spent much money and thrown many challenges in front of the Diaz plaintiffs.
It is hoped by the plaintiffs that Fini be put on trial for human rights abuses.

Rightwing leaders in Italy yesterday unleashed a flood of vitriolic anti-immigrant rhetoric and called for mass repatriation and the closing of the country’s frontiers, amid a growing backlash against foreign workers in the country.
Gianfranco Fini, the head of Italy’s “post-fascists”, led the way with an outburst against Gypsies [Roma]. Speaking three days after the arrest of a Romanian of Roma origin for the savage robbery and murder of an Italian woman, Mr Fini said Gypsies considered “theft to be virtually legitimate and not immoral” and felt the same way about “not working because it has to be the women who do so, often by prostituting themselves”.
In an interview with the daily Corriere della Sera, he claimed Roma “had no scruples about kidnapping children or having children [of their own] for the purposes of begging”. Mr Fini, the leader of the ultra-conservative National Alliance and until last year his country’s deputy prime minister, added: “To talk of integration with people with a “culture” of that sort is pointless.”
Though he did not say so in that interview, Mr Fini probably considers the lies about not only Roma; but also about Jews, supposedly stealing children “to use their blood for Jewish rituals” to be true.
After all, Mr Fini is on record as saying that Mussolini, under whom both Roma and Jews died in concentration camps, was ‘the greatest statesman of the twentieth century‘.
Mr Fini is a pal of new French President Sarkozy.

Ci sono voluti molti mesi, se non 4/5 anni, prima che il Ministero
dell’Interno e l’Osservatorio del Viminale riuscissero a collegare la
violenza organizzata negli stadi e le strutture neo-fasciste che nelle
città sono in grande crescita.
(il sottoscritto sono come minimo 15 anni che denuncia in ogni sede
possibile il fenomeno dell’ondata neofascista nelle curve italiane,
Padova purtroppo compresa, perfino all’on. Piero Ruzzante avevo
esposto il problema verso la fine degli anni 89/90….risultato? un
cazzo di niente e solo tanto menefreghismo!! questi sono i risultai! )

Nonostante gli indimenticabili striscioni laziali “squadra de negri,
curva d’ebrei” riferito alla curva della Roma o quello di qualche anno
prima “Onore alla Tigre Arkan” per arrivare al “Gott mit uns” ovvero
il famoso motto nazista “dio è con noi”, la “zona nord” dello stadio
olimpico si è sempre distinta.
Le risposte dei tifosi della Roma e di tante altre squadre non si sono
mai fatte attendere, “Lazio e Livorno, stessa iniziale stesso forno” e
“Hitler: con gli ebrei anche i napoletani” sono rispettivamente dei
tifosi della Roma e dell’Inter.
Potremmo continuare per ore ad esporre tutti gli episodi che negli
ultimi anni negli stadi hanno inneggiato al fascismo, al nazismo e più
in generale all’odio razziale, ma in questo modo non riusciremmo a
comprendere la vera natura del fenomeno che parte dagli stadi ma che
ha una dimensione ben diversa, ossia quella urbana.
In molte città, specie in quelle più grandi, le curve sono divenute il
bacino dove le strutture di estrema destra reclutano giovani, ma
soprattutto giovanissimi dai 15 ai 18 anni, per indirizzare
politicamente la voglia di rivolta che spesso è dovuta al degrado
sociale in cui i ragazzi vivono, in particolar modo i figli della
classe lavoratrice. L’esempio di Roma è lampante, se la curva della
Lazio è sempre stata di destra, quella della Roma invece ha trascorsi
di sinistra con addirittura un gruppo molto influente i “Fedayn” che
erano molto vicino all’Autonomia Operaia e ora si dichiara
“apolitico”, mentre ad oggi entrambe le curve sono politicamente
schierate a destra, con un’influenza diretta del Movimento della
Fiamma Tricolore e di Forza Nuova senza precedenti.
Non è un mistero che alcuni degli esponenti “dell’area non conforme”,
ovvero quella legata a Casa Pound e quindi proprio a Fiamma Tricolore,
siano legati ad alcuni gruppi ultrà di entrambe le curve.
Questi si sono resi noti per alcuni gravi episodi, dagli striscioni
citati in precedenza alle bandiere con le croci celtiche, passando per
la progettazione dell’assalto con successivo incendio al pullman dei
tifosi livornesi, mentre quest’ultimi tornavano a casa dopo la
trasferta a Roma contro la Lazio e per concludere, l’altra notte di
guerriglia che la capitale ricorda, ovvero quella del derby sospeso
per la falsa notizia del bambino morto, nottata che vide proprio
l’unione degli ultras di entrambe le curve combattere il potere dello
stato che allo stadio è incarnato da polizia e carabinieri in assetto
antisommossa.
Finalmente il Ministro Amato e l’osservatorio del Viminale hanno
capito che c’è un nesso tra il teppismo delle tifoserie e i gruppi di
estrema destra e che una serie di eventi completamente estranei allo
stadio sono spesso compiuti dalle stesse persone, o almeno dalla
stesse aree politiche.
La “militanza” infatti, non è di tipo classico, salvo alcune eccezioni
chi gravita intorno a queste aree molto spesso non è iscritto alle
organizzazioni neofasciste e non milita a tempo pieno, ma viene
contattato quando c’è un assalto a qualche centro sociale o a qualche
concerto(esempio riferito al post concerto della Banda Bassotti questa
estate) oppure qualche azione, ma in linea generale si incontrano allo
stadio.
E così dall’area non conforme di cui parlavamo prima che si dichiara
nazionalsocialista, con le sue librerie e i suoi centri sociali, fino
ad arrivare ai circoli futuristi anch’essi dichiaratamente nazisti,
nelle città l’estrema destra continua a reclutare giovani con una
capacità spaventosa che dovrebbe far riflettere la sinistra.
A differenza di molti anni fa la ribellione viene incanalata dalla
destra fascista e non ci si deve meravigliare se, quando si gira per
Torino, Roma o Milano, si vedono dei manifesti con slogan inneggianti
la rivoluzione sociale contro il capitalismo e contro il comunismo, e
questo accade maggiormente nelle periferie dove il degrado sociale è
palpabile con mano e la non istruzione va a braccetto con la
disoccupazione, portando all’esasperazione giovanile e al rifiuto
della società e quindi a facili strumentalizzazione della destra
pseudosociale.
Tra il tentativo dell’ex sinistra veltroniana di imitare la destra sul
tema della repressione e l’incredibile scelta della polizia di stato
di “evitare il contatto e lo scontro” con i gruppi che la scorsa sera
hanno assaltato il commissariato di polizia vicino allo stadio
Olimpico, ci ritroviamo con un’area politica che si forma negli stadi,
e fuori dai campi di gioco, si unisce e assalta il potere a modo suo,
cerca lo scontro e si fa trovare pronta, fin troppo pronta, anche per
colpa delle indecisioni della polizia.
La risposta deve essere chiara, ma non solo dal punto di vista
repressivo, non si ha a che fare con dei semplici teppisti da stadio e
soprattutto non è ammissibile che l’Osservatorio del Viminale cerchi
di accostare tutte le tifoserie, di destra e di sinistra, con l’aiuto
del Corriere della Sera che pubblica l’elenco dei gruppi ultras
facendo distinzione tra sinistra ed estrema sinistra come per la
destra e l’estrema destra, includendo tra la destra “moderata” i Boys
Sun dell’Inter, classificazione a dir poco bizzarra.
Che in questi anni ci sia stata una condotta completamente diversa tra
le tifoserie di sinistra e quelle di destra è indubbio, ma fin troppo
spesso le reazioni della polizia sono state inversamente proporzionali
alla violenza adottata dai singoli gruppi, la riprova l’abbiamo avuto
proprio domenica sera.
Quindi, contrastare questi gruppi sul terreno politico, è una priorità
per uno stato che si dichiara civile.
Soprattutto dopo le ultime settimane che hanno visto l’odio razziale
crescere nella popolazione, la politica non può permettere che ci sia
una deriva di odio razziale e fascista nel paese e a maggior ragione
non possiamo far si che queste idee sia prevalenti tra i giovani,
perché la sconfitta sarebbe doppia, nel presente e nel futuro!

Chi parla così, è fuori di testa: a Treviso un consigliere comunale
della Lega Nord dichiara: «Se alcuni toccano la mia famiglia, io non
applico la legge del taglione, ma la legge delle SS: per uno dei miei,
dieci dei loro». Sono sparate, fra il turpe e il grottesco. Ma chi fa
sparate del genere è un fesso? Si suicida, politicamente parlando?
Intanto, per ragionare, mettiamo a posto le notizie.
A Cittadella, il sindaco ha emanato la famosa (anche troppo) ordinanza
del reddito minimo vitale: chi chiede la residenza, ma non guadagna
almeno 5mila euro all’anno, non l’avrà. E tutti i giornali: è fuori
della legge, il procuratore Calogero lo inquisisce. Non è così.
L’ordinanza fa un passetto di troppo, e cioè prevede che un’apposita
commissione segnali al questore o al prefetto i casi in cui colui che
chiede la residenza non dimostra di poter vivere con mezzi legali.
L’avviso di garanzia di Calogero è su questa commissione. Con la
quale, pensa Calogero, il sindaco usurpa un potere che è solo dello
Stato, decidere chi entra e chi no.
Ma il vivere legalmente non è un concetto leghista, se ne sta
discutendo anche nella maggioranza. Dopo Cittadella, c’è stato il caso
di cinque sindaci dei Colli Euganei, tutti di Alleanza Nazionale. I
cinque sindaci han fatto sapere che trovano difficoltà a concedere la
cittadinanza italiana a immigrati che secondo il ministero
dell’Interno sono in regola e ne hanno diritto, ma che però, invitati
a leggere un breve giuramento, non non sanno leggere l’italiano, e
interrogati su due-tre principi della Costituzione, non la capiscono.
Scusate, ma qui c’è un problema: uno che non capisce la lingua
italiana e non ha la minima idea di che cos’è la nostra Costituzione,
e se riceve una lettera dal Comune o dallo Stato non riesce a
decifrarne una parola, su che base può diventare cittadino italiano,
come me, come voi? Perché le istituzioni, invece di far finta di
nulla, non li mettono nelle condizioni di imparare la nostra la
lingua? Non è detto che i sindaci di Alleanza Nazionale, perché sono
di Alleanza Nazionale, siano dei nemici del genere umano. Sono di
destra, e hanno il pallino della sicurezza. Ma perché la sicurezza non
dev’essere un valore anche per la sinistra?
A tutti quei cinque sindaci (più altri quindici) io ho scritto
dicendo: «Scusate, nel vostro comune ci sono stati dei partigiani
fucilati e impiccati, e nessuno ne sa più niente; perché non stampiamo
un volumetto da 4-5 euro, da regalare agli studenti delle superiori?
Mi date un po’ di soldi?». Tutti me li han dati. Non mi hanno sputato
addosso. E io non gli sputo addosso.
Il discorso cambia quando si arriva al maiale. Dalle parti di via
Longhin, estrema periferia di Padova Est, dove sta un mio amico
pittore che sulla casa ha scritto: «Portatevi indietro i preservativi
usati», il comune concede il terreno per una moschea, e subito 5-6
leghisti sono corsi sui campi incolti con un maiale al guinzaglio, per
farlo pisciare. Ora il terreno è, musulmanamente parlando, immondo.
Gli islamici si stanno consultando per capire se e come quel terreno
si possa de-immondizzare, in maniera da farci sopra la loro moschea.
La passeggiata col maiale al guinzaglio è stata la vera porcata
leghista, altro che il Porcellum.
È come se uno ti chiede da mangiare, tu gli dai un panino, ma mentre
glielo consegni gli scarichi sopra uno sputacchio. Fa schifo il panino
e fai schifo tu. Anche la Lega ha preso le distanze della passeggiata
maialesca. Non le fa bene, non le porta voti, e qualcuno dei voti che
continuerà a ricevere (la Lega è immortale, perché nasce su un
problema che non è morto) le verrà dato con un conato di nausea.
Adesso vien fuori la legge delle SS: se un clandestino fa un reato, tu
punisci non un clandestino ma dieci. Una cosa del genere, non è un
reato farla, ma anche solo dirla.
Allora, perché queste cose i leghisti le dicono? Sono stupidi? Ma no.
La Lega s’è ridotta al 4%, il suo esercito s’è sfasciato, quel 4% è la
guardia imperiale, non deve disperdersi. Nel fragore della battaglia,
quando l’esercito va in rotta, i soldati scozzesi suonano le
cornamuse: i dispersi e gli spaventati, sul punto di gettare le armi e
scappare, sentono le cornamuse, e accorrono al richiamo. Queste grida
demenziali sono un «rappel à l’ordre». Che significa: «Ci stanno
distruggendo, non facciamoci ammazzare».
Però, come non è palesemente priva di senso la dichiarazione sulla
lingua italiana che bisogna sapere per avere la cittadinanza, anche
questa invocazione psicotica alle SS contiene un messaggio inconscio,
che lo zoccolo duro di Lega e dintorni intende con la pancia e con i
nervi.
E non significa: «Se uno fa un reato, mettiamone in galera dieci», ma
significa: «Se dieci fanno dei reati, cerchiamo di metterne in galera
almeno cinque, e che ci restino». Non succede mai. La Lega è
fuori-storia, la Storia non dà ragione alla Lega. Purtroppo, le dà
degli alibi.

Gypsy camps burned in Naples
Residents angry after Roma girl tried to kidnap baby
(ANSA) – Naples, May 13 – Residents in a Naples suburb on Wednesday set fire to a series of gypsy camps as anger mounted over the attempted kidnapping of a baby by a Roma gypsy earlier this week.
Around 400 gypsies in the neighbourhood east of the city have been forced to flee over the last two days after residents entered their camps armed with iron bars and threw Molotov cocktails and stones.
”We’ve been close to the Roma over the years, we’ve helped them, and in return they repaid us by trying to kidnap a baby,” one resident explained.
A 17-year-old Roma girl was caught trying to steal the six-month-old baby on Saturday after breaking into an apartment and taking the child from its baby seat in the kitchen.
The mother was able to snatch back the child, and the gypsy was stopped and arrested shortly after the incident.
Police had to evacuate Roma settlements on Tuesday following incursions by angry residents, who have since been trying to burn the empty camps to the ground.
On Wednesday residents jeered at firemen working to put out flames in two camps and shouted, ”You put these fires out and we’ll start them again”.
”After the evacuation of the camps the police should have taken down the shacks,” said one resident.
”Leaving them intact is basically inviting the Roma to return in a few weeks. That’s why people have started the fires – to be sure that they never come back”.
Around 50 Roma who have refused to move on currently remain in the neighbourhood under police guard.
”We don’t know where to go. We’ve lived here for two years and we’ve never had problems with the people of the area,” said one Roma father.
”The choice the people in the other camps made to go away doesn’t make sense to us. If we were to go to Rome or Venice, nothing would change – we’ll always be thrown out,” he added.
Naples mayor Rosa Iervolino Russo said she condemned the ”violent and racist actions” of the past few days and was echoed by charitable organisations.
”It’s an explosion of violence that has put the lives of many Roma at risk and has taken away from them the little that they had,” said the Naples branch of the Sant’Egidio community, a Catholic charity.
”The situation has got out of hand: it’s unacceptable that a minority of violent people should attempt to resolve a complex situation in 36 hours or define the city’s political line towards the Roma,” it added. According to Roma rights group Opera Nomadi, there are a total of 2,500 Roma living in Naples, around 1,000 of whom come from Romania and 1,500 from the Balkans.
The Roma in the east of the city where violence has broken out – and the gypsy involved in the kidnap attempt – are of Romanian origin.
The images of gypsies leaving the camps in vans provoked condemnation from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), which drew parallels with Roma being forced to flee from the Balkans.
”In Italy there are around 170,000 Roma, of whom 34,000 from ex-Yugoslavia, who came to our country to seek protection from ethnic cleansing,” said UNHCR spokesperson Laura Boldrini.
”We never thought we’d see such images in Italy,” she added.
On Tuesday Interior Minister Roberto Maroni said he would appoint a special commissioner to deal with the Roma community in Milan, where around 23,000 gypsies have set up camp.
On Wednesday Rome Mayor Gianni Alemanno said he would do the same in the Italian capital.
Earlier this week Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popeascu Tariceanu said Roma settlements ”serve as a base to carry out crime”, observing that France and Germany did not have problems with Roma crime because these countries did not allow the nomads to set up camp.

Genoa G8 verdict sparks row
Victims protest, govt defends brutality ruling
(ANSA) – Rome, July 15 – A long-awaited verdict on brutality against anti-globalisation demonstrators during the 2001 G8 summit in Genoa has drawn protests from leftwing MPs and victims.
”It is an absurd and disgraceful sentence, contrary to all the evidence and unworthy of a civilised country,” said Communist party member Pino Sgobio after the Monday night verdict that acquitted 30 of 45 state officials.
Green party member Paolo Cento said the verdict ”supplies only a half truth and leaves wholly unpunished the political responsibilities for the handling of the G8 summit”.
He renewed calls for a parliamentary commission of inquiry into the events in Genoa and called for the crime of torture to be introduced into Italy’s penal code, ”as Amnesty International has requested on several occasions”.
”If that crime had been on the books before 2001 the highly serious events at (the) Bolzaneto (detention centre) would certainly have been judged differently”. The left-leaning La Repubblica daily spoke of ”a virtual whitewash,” noting that requested jail terms were also cut by a third, to a total of 24 years, and that no one will serve time because of the statute of limitations.
Corriere della Sera quoted one of the victims, a 25-year-old at the time of her experience at Bolzaneto, as saying ”these are ridiculous sentences”.
”That day changed my life,” she was quoted as saying.
But Fabrizio Cicchitto, Lower House whip for Premier Silvio Berlusconi’s People of Freedom (PDL) party, praised the sentence as ”objective and balanced”.
Berlusconi, who last spring swept back to power for the third time, was in the first year of his second term in office when the Genoa summit was organised.
Cicchitto said the sentence proved there was ”no systematic operation of repression or torture but mistakes by some members of the police force”.
This was the line taken immediately after the sentence by Interior Undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano, also of the PDL, who said ”the action of individuals was assessed and the concept of collective guilt was abandoned”.
Of the 15 convictions, the longest term, five years, was given to Bolzaneto head Antonio Biagio Gugliotta, found guilty of forcing detainees to stand for hours in stress positions.
Instead of torture – which is not on the Italian criminal books – the other defendants were found guilty of ”abuse of authority”.
Deputy police chief Alessandro Perugini, caught on film as he kicked a teenager in the face, was given two years and four months; Giacomo Toccafondi, a doctor accused of scores of invasive and humiliating examinations, got 14 months; and Massimo Piggozzi, a policeman who splayed a protester’s fingers to breaking point, received a term of three years and two months.
The trial judges ruled that 30 of the 45 defendants either ”did not commit the crime” or, in their case, ”the crime did not exist”. Italy’s justice and interior ministries were ordered to pay two million euros in compensation – compared to the 15 million the victims had been seeking.
The trial of the 45 state officials opened in October 2005. The defendants were charged with abuse, fraud, criminal coercion and inhuman and degrading treatment. In total, 252 demonstrators said they were spat at, verbally and physically humiliated and threatened with rape while being held at the Bolzaneto detention centre. The prosecution, which wrapped up its case in March, requested jail terms totalling 76 years for police officers, prison guards and doctors working at the centre.
Of the 252 demonstrators who claimed abuse, strong evidence emerged in at least 209 cases considered during the trial. More than 300,000 demonstrators converged on Genoa for the G8 summit in July 2001. During two days of mayhem, a 23-year-old protestor was shot dead while attacking a policeman, shops and businesses were ransacked and hundreds of people were injured in clashes between police and demonstrators.
BOLZANETO ONE OF THREE TRIALS. The Bolzaneto proceedings are one of three major trials to emerge from violence at the event. In one case, 29 top-ranking police officials are being tried over a raid on a school used as sleeping quarters by protesters during the event. The charges include grievous bodily harm, planting evidence and wrongful arrest. Most of the 93 demonstrators arrested during the operation were beaten, some seriously, and 63 had to be taken to hospital. Three people were left comatose. In December last year, another court convicted 24 Italians for their involvement in rioting at the summit. This was the only trial against demonstrators in connection with the event. Although police arrested dozens of people at the time, all other proceedings collapsed for lack of evidence or were dismissed by judges during preliminary hearings. A 2001 parliamentary inquiry exonerated the police of having used excessive force but stressed that magistrates were entitled to investigate any individual instances of alleged brutality. Critics at the time accused Berlusconi’s centre-right government of a whitewash. A second enquiry was proposed last year after a top policeman changed his earlier testimony and said he had seen officers commit ”carnage” during the night raid. However, the proposal was dropped after two centrist parties joined the centre-right coalition in voting against it.
