For the moment, Shell cannot drill oil and gas wells in the [Beaufort] sea north of Alaska. This was decided by a US American judge in a court case started by environmental organizations. They are afraid that polar bears and the rare bowhead whales will be threatened. Shell wanted to do test drilling this summer.
