From the Cotswold Journal in England:
Tories ‘to defend Blair’s legacy‘
The Tory leadership will risk infuriating traditionalists further by claiming that they – and not Gordon Brown – are the true defenders of Tony Blair’s legacy.
With the ink still drying on the resignation of a front-bencher who would not toe the line on grammar schools, shadow chancellor George Osborne is to say that the party agrees with the current Prime Minister on the “essentials of the way forward” for public services.
There is some hypocrisy in those “infuriated traditionalist” Conservatives; as Tony Blair basically carried on where Margaret Thatcher left off.
Also, in his corruption scandals, Blair continued the ways of previous Conservative administrations.
Like Blairite Labour, the Conservatives have links to the Rupert Murdoch empire.
Conservative blogger Ellee Seymour does not seem to be very happy about that.
From Blair’s spin doctor Campbell:
That conversation underlines an emerging theme of the book, how Mr Blair saw himself as different politically from even his closest allies. “TB said it was important I understood why parts of Thatcherism were right…’What gives me real edge is that I’m not as Labour as you lot.’
